Rocket's 2023 Year in Review

Together with our clients and partners, we’ve made 2023 a year of incredible impact. Curious what we’ve been up to? Check out a snapshot of our proudest accomplishments in our 2023 Year in Review:

Client Program Liftoff:

Rocket proudly supported clients in launching initiatives that will drive lasting impact into the New Year and beyond.

  • The Popeyes Foundation launched Serving with Love, an initiative directing funds raised in-restaurant to national and local nonprofits that provide food to those in need. With a series of promotional incentives and other activations Serving with Love is fueling the Foundation’s grants program and continuing emergency-related support for team members.

  • Covenant House drove awareness, action, and donations around the 2nd annual Youth Homelessness Awareness Month, which included establishing a series of new corporate partnerships and the organization’s first ever Sleep Out in Times Square.

  • Allstate rallied their internal leaders for a Service Experience as part of the company's Annual Leadership Conference, executing 13 diverse service projects to drive impact for nonprofits in the Chicago area.

  • Black Business Boom launched the Breaking Barriers for Black Business campaign, with the goal of supporting 1,500 black owned businesses by 2030. The campaign's aim is to give black businesses the resources they need to thrive and help close the wealth gap for black entrepreneurs.

  • No Kid Hungry launched a new transformational initiative on the heels of a national legislative win around expanding access to summer meals for school-aged children. Through this effort, No Kid Hungry is calling upon the restaurant industry to lead the movement with a $25M commitment to help close the Summer Meals Gap.

  • Through the TAP Into Success campaign, Caliber Collision is empowering the next generation of auto body technicians with its free Technician Apprentice Program (TAP) to gain a rewarding career by working on the latest technology.

  • The Bosch Community Fund developed a workforce development report that outlines the ways they help increase economic prosperity by investing in local communities. The report shows how the foundation is disrupting and addressing the talent shortage gap by supporting effective programs with its partners.

  • The Robotics Education & Competition (REC) Foundation inspires and equips students around the globe for success through its competitions, education, and workforce readiness, including its Girl Powered program, Advanced Drone Competition, and hosting the world’s largest robotics competition each year with over 30,000 student competitors from more than 50 countries.

  • Visible Wireless launched Visible Impacts, their signature social impact initiative at the intersection of connectivity and equitable access to society’s most basic needs. Visible is investing where wireless technology can have the greatest and most immediate impact: connections to food assistance, workforce development support, and community-building.

Client Convenings hosted:

Rocket is grateful to have helped rally industry leaders to move the needle on some of the most challenging issues facing our communities. We believe in the power of collective impact, and we show up every day to do our part to support it.

  • The Sandy Hook Promise Corporate Forum was a unique gathering of corporate social impact voices—including leaders from Uber, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Northwell Health and the Chicago Bulls— dedicated to addressing gun violence prevention and sharing distinct approaches to tackling this issue.

  • NerdWallet hosted “Investing in Impact for Better Business & Greater Good”, a discussion mobilizing companies around an innovative approach to addressing financial inequity through the Financial Equity Pledge, a program investing cash reserves in underserved communities.

  • Project Potluck hosted their first-ever Equity on the Shelf Roundtable Discussion, a virtual gathering of corporate social impact and DEI leaders committed to addressing the most pressing issues and opportunities around driving equity across the consumer-packaged goods (CPG) sector. The conversation gathered leading brands and featured insights from Chobani, King Arthur Baking, and Once Upon A Farm.

Rocket On The Mic:

Rocket is grateful to have helped rally industry leaders to move the needle on some of the most challenging issues facing our communities. We believe in the power of collective impact, and we show up every day to do our part to support it.

  • We brought together a roundtable of industry leaders to discuss top tactics for engaging historically hard-to-reach hourly employees with social impact. The Fueling the Frontline Roundtable touched on all things incentives and recognition, effective communication strategies, and leveraging data with Taco Bell’s Jennifer Walker Bradbury, Kroger’s Patty Leesemann, and Finish Line’s Marty Posch. Here were the top takeaways.

  • This year we grew our Purpose FWD community, a group of 50+ corporate social impact leaders we started to discuss everyday challenges they’re facing within the industry. In our quarterly calls we spotlighted the amazing impact work of our members and brainstormed around common obstacles and solutions.

  • We were proud to host an Engage For Good webinar with leaders from Bobbie, theSkimm, No Kid Hungry, and Moms First to discuss innovative ways to leverage legislative efforts in order to mobilize key audiences and raise more dollars for impact work. Read more on this New Age of Activism.

  • For the Social Impact World Summit, we shared top recs for building buy-in with three main players: executives, employees, and communications teams. We were thrilled to highlight learnings from our partnership with Sondra Harding on Shutterfly’s signature social impact program, Open Door Project.

  • At the ACCP Annual Conference, we presented on how to cut through the noise of CSR & ESG communications. We were also grateful to partner with Association of Corporate Citizenship Professionals to announce this year's winners of the ACCP Purpose Awards.

  • We shared insights at the BCIVIC Summit on how social impact professionals can develop a playbook for navigating public responses to social issues. Listen for tips on staying prepared.

Thank you to our community of colleagues and clients who we’ve had the privilege of driving impact with in 2023. Warm wishes for a joyful holiday season and a purposeful New Year! – Team Rocket
